Obituary of Eleanor Diane Girardin

GIRARDIN - It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Eleanor Diane Girardin (nee Schweyer) of St. Thomas. Eleanor passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her husband Robert “Bob” Girardin (2014). Loving mother of Brian (Louanne) Girardin of Iona Station, Pam Campbell (Klaus Machura) of St. Thomas, and Jo Ann Card of Cambridge. Unforgettable grandma to Pat (Krista), Andrew, Nathan (Cari), Justin (Ashley), Jason, Lawrence, Nicole (Stacy), and Cree (Tyler). Precious great grandmother to Tyler, Alyssa, Leah, A.J., Jessie, Jordan, Jaxon, Noah, Jaycie and Cordelia. Dear sister of Mae (late Alec) Palmer and Gordon (late Terry) Schweyer, and sister-in-law of Ruby (late Mansell) Schweyer. Predeceased by her parents Oscar and Ethel Schweyer of Tillsonburg; and her siblings Irene (Jim), Bernice (Jim), Joyce (Tom), Blanche (Ad) and Douglas. Eleanor was a loyal employee of Shopper’s Drug Mart, Victor Gasket/Hayes Dana, Elgin Manor, Memorial Hospital and ThermoDisc throughout her life as well as being the best wife, family matriarch and loyal friend to all that knew and loved her. She was an avid gardener, impeccable knitter, crafter, scrap booker, canner, painter, a truly dedicated Toronto Maple Leaf fan (especially Dougie) and an Angus Young enthusiast. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all of her family, but now soars with the butterflies and hummingbirds, free from pain and suffering. “Fly Free Angel”. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Streel, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, June 19 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm, where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am.
