Obituary of Carol Louise Betts
BETTS - Carol Louise (nee Clifford) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Bonnie Place, St. Thomas on Sunday April 5,2020 in her 81st year. Beloved wife and best friend of Donald Betts for more than 56 years. She was dearly loved by her children Clare Earhart of St. Thomas, David Betts (Glenda) of Burlington, John Betts (Monica) of St. Thomas and Kimberly Buck of St. Thomas. Much loved grandmother of Benjamin, Heidi and Kevin Earhart, Cassandra and Connor Betts, Alana, Jessica and Kira Buck. Carol will be remembered by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Carol Pineau (Gary) of St. Thomas, Linda Wetmore (Blair) of BC, James Betts (Charlene) of Kingston, NB, Kathryn Kingston (David) of Quispamsis, NB, and Karen McGaghey (Dan) of Saint John, NB. Predeceased by sister-in-law Eileen Lindsay and by brothers-in-law Robert Lindsay and Robert Ferris. Carol will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Saint John, NB on March 14, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Kenneth & Margaret (nee McKinney) Clifford. She graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Carol was devoted to her family and was a very active member of St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Thomas for over 45 years. She taught Sunday school, enjoyed singing in the choir and kept busy with many activities within the church. Carol also volunteered at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for several years. Carol enjoyed her summers in New Brunswick, gardening, pets, reading and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She will be sadly missed by many dear friends. She always had a smile and showed caring and kindness to all who knew her. Cremation has already taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 60 West Ave, St Thomas when COVID-19 restrictions have been withdrawn. Interment will take place at Erb’s Cove Baptist Church Cemetery, N.B at a later date. Special thanks go out to the caring staff at Caressant Care Bonnie Place.
