Obituary of John McIntosh Mitchell

MITCHELL, John McIntosh – “Mitch” of St. Thomas and Six Mile Lake, formerly of Mississauga, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the age of 85. Beloved Husband to Janet Mitchell (nee Wilkinson). Devoted Father to Josh (Veronica) and Sarah (Desmond). Cherished Grandad to Zachary and Abby. Honorary “Uncle Mitch” to so many. A kind and wonderful man, he was always ready with a laugh, a joke, a smile, or a story. His one-liners, quips, and Mitch-isms are legendary. John was born in Timmins to the late George & Leone Mitchell. He was a retired Vice President with the Ontario Development Corporation and proud member of the Kiwanis Club and Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. For those wishing to attend the visitation, please register on John’s tribute page on the funeral home website. A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. For those unable to attend the service, a livestream will be made available on John’s tribute page on the funeral home website. Interment of ashes in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at Six Mile Lake at a later date.
