Obituary of Larry Armstrong

ARMSTRONG- George Lawrence “Larry”, passed away at home, with his family by his side on January 3, 2022 at the age of 75. Larry is survived by his wife of fifty years and whom he held on a pedestal, Cathy (nee Bilik); by his children Amy Armstrong (Spiros) and Michael Armstrong, who made him proud everyday; and by his granddaughters Chloe and Jade Bechard, who even though he joked with them constantly, he also taught them about life. He cherished his time with his cousin and best friend Linda and her husband Don Hopf, and the card games and laughter they enjoyed with their mutual cousin Karen Edwards. Thank you to Aunt Gladys (Clift) for the wonderful woman you have always been to Larry’s family. Larry was involved in volunteering for the Elgin County Railway Museum. He served as past president of the CN Pensioners Association London Local, and was currently an Ontario Provincial Delegate. After retirement from CN, he worked in claims at Walmart in St. Thomas, where he made a point to know and to laugh with so many of his fellow employees. Larry loved to ride the rails from one coast of Canada to the other. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Visitation one hour prior to the service. For those planning to attend the service, please register on Larry’s tribute page on the funeral home website, or call the funeral home directly.
