We all know death is certain for everyone, but nothing can prepare you for the loss of a parent. No words or no expectations.
Death is always there to remind us that our plans here are transitory.
He was my very first hero. He came to all of my soccer games where I just played with bugs while people ran past me……came to all of my basketball games where I was afraid of the ball……He taught me how to play chess, which I still play to this day. He came to all of my school concerts, volunteered with all of my teachers…..and managed to convince my entire school that he played for the Dallas cowboys. All of my friends loved him. But not as much as me. He taught me how to ride a bike without training wheels, simply by letting me go at the top of a giant hill and seeing if I could balance this myself. Thanks for that dad. He taught me about finding the rhythms in songs, how to dance, how to drive, and appreciate the lyrics in music. He taught me actually love Ford, too. He **tried** to teach me about hockey and all sports, but I think it’s safe to say something there never clicked.
His gentler side loved sunsets, the sound of waves, the number 13, and most of all, stars…well, and UFO’s.
Dad, you were loved by SO many people. Your laugh lit up a whole city, and will be heard from Heaven, no doubt.
No one really knew how severe your inner struggle was that you battled with for many years. Alcoholism is a scary disease.
And while you never fully learned to overcome your own demons, you cultivated in me the tools to confront my own so I can be the best mother in the world to Zayn Abraham ALAN Sail.
The one and only thing that I’m grateful about with his passing, is that hopefully now no one on EARTH will pronounce the word taco as take-o.
And if you ever hear the song Night Moves by Bob Seger, turn it up just a little louder, for Alan.
Dad, I hope you experience the very best in the afterlife. May Gods love be with you.

I never knew anyone who lit up a room like Al. One of my favourite memories was of our duty of clean up after meals at the cottage. He made it so much fun dancing and singing and bringing such a beautiful energy into the room that chores became fun. When I lost my husband he spoke at his funeral and brought tears of laughter recalling our many times together. The most engaged father I ever saw when Holly was born. Dropping in on the weekends with her in tow loving to show her off to her cousins. I hope the afterlife is ready for his reunion with Bing. I know the partying will be outrageous. So grateful to of known you Al ….you taught us how to take life just a little bit easier.

Uncle Al is very special to me. He came into my life when i was 3. I spent a lot of time as a child with him. His joie de vivre was unmatched, and I can still smell his Juicy Fruit! His laugh was contagious, and he loved me just the way I was. I remember his pastel plastic cups, riding in the Mustang and dancing our hearts out. I'm sorry that he's left the Earth plane, but happy that he is at peace.

Wow! That's what I keep thinking. How does someone vital, always smiling and laughing have his life cut short like this? Al is one of my younger brothers. He used to tell people that I was the one most like him. I think he meant our humour. Everything was simpler when Anne & Dad were alive. The parties, bbqs, hugs, dancing.
To my Brother's Children, Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews, remember him fondly whenever you can. Bring back the Garrell love and laughter.
Jason & Holly your Dad loved you both so much, and yes, he loved your Mothers too.
Sis, I miss you both, but at least You and Al are together again. Enjoy the beautiful afterlife. Rest in Bliss.
