Grief Bursts
Life is a shadow since you’ve been gone,
The days stretch endless, nights drag on.
Driving alone, our song on the air,
Sudden tears blur, I can’t see where.
I pull to the side, heart in my throat,
Memories flood, and I barely float.
Streams of sorrow, they fall unchecked,
In the car’s quiet, our love reflects.
In crowded aisles, amongst the noise,
Grief sneaks in, and steals my poise.
A scent, a sight, a whispered name,
And I’m running out, heart in flame.
Embarrassed, hiding from stranger’s gaze,
Fleeing the ghosts of happier days.
