Obituary of Janet Ruth Patterson

Obituary PATTERSON- Janet Ruth (nee Frederick) of Port Stanley, passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in her 84th year. Janet is survived by her loving husband Harvey of Port Stanley; by her children Janis Cookson, Joan (Pat) Collins, John Cookson, and Jimmy (Sherry) Cookson; by her stepchildren Joanne, Bill and Don; by her grandchildren Zoe, Meaghan, Pat, Will, Tony, Courtney (Kevin), Chase, Cayleigh, Tyler, Danielle, Stephanie, Jamie, Logan, Carter, Luke, and Courtney; and by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Glen and James Frederick. Jan was born in Windsor, Ontario to the late Ken and Eva Frederick. She worked in management at Centura Flooring and Wall Covering, and was a member of the Union United Church. Jan was an avid volunteer with Valleyview Home for a number of years, as well as the Alzheimer Society Elgin-St. Thomas. She can also be remembered for her love of reading and support of the Port Stanley Library, her cycling adventures, bird watching outings with the Elgin Field Naturalists Club, and bowling at Park ‘N Bowl. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark Perry officiating. Interment of ashes in Union United Church Cemetery.
