Obituary of David Joseph Kenny

KENNY – David Joseph, in his 81^st year, passed away peacefully after a valiant fight against lung cancer on April 13, 2023.

Dave was born, on January 21, 1943, in Ottawa, ON, to Bernard and Irene (Cruikshank) Kenny. The family and many friends have lost a wonderful human being. His passions were golfing, woodworking, building and fixing anything that needed to be fixed and trying to teach his sons to be as handy as he was. Dave loved cooking for family and friends. His sense of humour and love of life will be greatly missed.

Those who will miss Dave the most include sons James and his wife Nicole and Tyson; daughter Kate and her husband Nick, grandchildren Grayson, Rachel, and Sawyer; sisters-in-law Shelley and her husband Scott; Anne, Mary, and his friend and dance partner Sandy. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins from Gatineau, and a host of close friends. Dave was predeceased by his wife Nancy (Barnes), his parents, his brothers Bryan and Jim and his sister Faye.

There is so much that can be said about Dave and his accomplishments, but we will save that for his celebration of life, which will be held Saturday, May 13^th, from 2 – 5 pm at the St Thomas Seniors Centre, 225 Chestnut, St Thomas. The family would like to thank Dr. Sanatani and his staff at the London Health Sciences Centre and Dr. Etarsky, the nurses and support staff on the 5^th floor at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, for caring for Dave. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated at the St Thomas Seniors Centre to ensure the music and dancing will continue.
