Dear Kathi and family
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Shirley...what an amazing legacy she has left. Shirley inspired so many people with her incredible dedication to the community and to her family. Shirley cared about others and led by example and humility. What joy there must have been in Heaven when Shirley arrived. I believe that all of the Broadbents donned their red garments to welcome her. Shirley worked tirelessly on campaigns for cancer research...opening her home and property to cheer on the canvassers when they finished their shift. She and Carole Watson devoted many hours to this cause despite their own health issues.
Ray and Shirley were true soul mates. Together they forged ahead when The Inn Out Of The Cold was being formulated and structured.
There is a special place in Heaven for Shirley and all of you have your own guiding light and strong caring angel to lead you on.

Shirley was an amazing kind generous lady. Always had many stories to tell and experiences to share. Shirley love to bake and made me special pies, cookies and soup. Also her homemade beats and kickn' garlic dill pickles. We always had some good laughs which lit up my salon.
We are definitely going to miss you but our fond memories will keep you alive in our hearts.

I am saddened and shocked to hear of Shirley’s death.Having not seen her in nearly two years, I just kinda hoped she would live forever. I will miss her so much. I had the pleasure of working with Shirley at VON. She helped our hospice and bereavement program in so many ways…being a support to people dying, to those grieving the death of someone loved, knitting scarves for our Kids’ Circle program, running our Cooking for One program as well as helping to facilitate the evening Bereavement Walking group. Shirley was a gem and my thoughts and prayers are heaven bound for her and Ray and Rob. Keeping all of her family and friends in my prayers too. Thank you for a sharing your life with us Shirley. We are better for knowing you, learning from you and loving you. Until we meet again friend.
