SMITH- It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Kenneth Lee Smith.  Ken passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the age of 75.  Ken will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Velma; by his children Greg (Janice), Scott (Nena), and Brent (Sheri); and by his grandchildren Jayce, Janessa, Alyssa, Haylee, Andrew, and Lauren.  He is also survived and missed by his mother Shirley (late Lee) Smith; siblings Jeanette Smith of Vancouver, Terry (Julia) of Chatham, John (Joan) of Sauble Beach, Jeff (Colleen) of St. Thomas, Donnalea (Don) Shearer of South Carolina; sister-in-law Katherine (Bob) Hines of St. Thomas; and by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Ken retired from Ford Motor Company in Talbotville after 40 years of service.  He enjoyed spending time on his boat in Long Point, was very active with the Centennial Sports Club in St. Thomas, and volunteered as President of St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association for many years.  Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Ken’s life will be held at the Centennial Sports Club 43 Jonas Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Centennial Sports Club, or to a charity of your choice in memory of Ken.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
