The strongest woman I have ever known, my Mother. I love you and I miss you! I will miss our long talks. I will always remember baking at your side Mom. I was barely head high to the counter and curious for your delicious pastries. You taught me how. To this day, I still use your no-fail icing recipe. Your homemade brownies and pecan butter tarts were loved and devoured throughout the generations. You gave me the starter plant for what is now the most beautiful White Lilac Tree that is the envy of the neighbourhood. I've shared your many perennials with several neighbours. They are everywhere because they are as prolific as you, your spirit, and symbolize the joy and love you gave freely. This spring I will plant a special tree in your memory.
You can now rest peacefully with Dad.

In Solace To My Family
Faced with the inevitable,
I dedicate this poetry
On the loss of our dear Mother,
In solace to my family.
Thinking of her loved ones,
As she felt the end draw near,
Mom wanted to assure us
That her love won't disappear.
Affection, patience, truth, and strength,
All her life Mom did her best.
She gave us everything she had,
And now it's time for her to rest.
Dying is part of living,
A cycle all go through.
Grief is a measure of love,
And letting go is hard to do.
As we lay Mom gently down,
Her soul is set free to roam.
We bow our heads in silent prayer,
May Angels guide her journey home.
Of course we are in mourning,
Our beloved Mom is gone,
Now she's safe within our hearts,
Where her memory will live on.
We'll think of Mom quite often,
Feel her presence ever nigh,
Perceive the sound of her sweet voice,
Reminiscent of days gone by.
In our pictures of the past,
It's Mom's lovely face we see,
And all of these remind us,
How we miss her company.
In keeping with Mom's wishes,
We won't dwell on our despair.
Instead we will be grateful,
For all her time and care.
As our tears slowly subside,
And sorrow fades, gradually,
We will find great comfort,
In our precious memories.
Mom's many sacrifices,
And her very special style,
Will always be remembered,
With admiration and a smile.
Your ever loving daughter,
