Obituary of Georgette Mary Akiens

AKIENS- Georgette Mary (nee Ternoey) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at the age of 88.  Georgette is survived by her loving daughters Debbie Grey and Sherry (Gary) Groulx of St. Thomas.  She will be missed and fondly remembered by her grandchildren Danielle (Preston) Morabito and their children Seven, Jeremiah, and Matteo, Kara Walls, Megan Walls, Jared (Lex) Groulx and their children Aubrey and Kylie, Lauren (Curtis) McCarty and their son Graeme, and Kelly Groulx.  She will also be missed by her son-in-law Preston Walls; by her sister Madeline DeLanghe; by several nieces and nephews; and by her grand-puppies Maxwell, Mac, Winston and Remi.  Georgette worked as a bank teller for many years and was a longtime and active member at St. Thomas Pentecostal Assembly Church (LifeHouse).  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  The service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 am.  Interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in London.  If desired, donations can be made to VON Elgin in honour of the Assisted Living Program, who lovingly cared for Georgette as one of their own.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca
