Obituary of Duane Whitcroft

WHITCROFT - Duane Edward of St. Thomas, Ont. passed away suddenly on December 27, 2014 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of June Whitcroft (nee Shipley). Duane is survived by children Lori (Brian) Zimmer and their children Tyler and Kenzie, and Dean (Marcy) Whitcroft and their children Matthew, Nathan, and Nicole all of St. Thomas; siblings Percy (Marg) Whitcroft of Aylmer, and Shirley (George) Sanderson of Carleton Place; in-laws Helen (Bob) McCready of St. Thomas, and Ruth Ann (Fred) Newman of London, Murray Sweetman of Dutton, Rose Whitcroft of St. Thomas, Marie Whitcroft of Fingal; and by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Irene Whitcroft, his sister Helen Sweetman, his brothers Leroy and Ron, and his brother-in-law Keith Shipley. Duane retired as bookkeeper from Elgin Co-op. He was also a member of Central United Church and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Central United Church 135 Wellington Street, St. Thomas on Wednesday, December 31 at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes in South Park Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations to Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or Central United Church would be appreciated.
