Obituary of Bob Girardin

GIRARDIN - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Robert John Girardin (aka ‘Uncle Bob’ & ‘Bobby G’) of St. Thomas. Bob passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, son Brian (Louanne) Girardin of Iona, daughters Pam Campbell (Klaus Machura) of St. Thomas, and Jo Ann Card of Cambridge; grandchildren Pat (Krista) Girardin, Andrew Campbell, Nathan Girardin, Justin (Ashley) Girardin, Jason Girardin, Lawrence Campbell, Nicole Campbell, and Cree Card; great-grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Leah, Ashton, Jessie, Jordan, Jaxon, Noah, and Jaycie. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Lily Girardin, his brother Lorne, and his sister Dorothy. Bob retired after a lengthy career at Auto Haulaway as bay truck driver. He was actively involved as assistant coach for the Maxwell's Super Shooters, Spanky’s, and the Factory Muffler hockey teams, and was a member of the Elgin Labour Centre and Royal Canadian Legion. He was a magnificent singer, enjoyed his shed and always had peanuts for the squirrels, chipmunks and his buddy Blue (the Blue Jay, not the beer-Canadian only). He was a sports fan, car enthusiast, collector of memorabilia, and lover of all animals. He was always a joker who would give the shirt off his back and love in his heart to all that met him. He lived his life his way, would never say good-bye, and his favourite phrase was “forget about it, don’t think about it, don’t mention about it”. We will never forget about you, will forever think about you and always mention the love and laughs we shared with you. Visitation will be held at theShawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The funeral service will take place in the chapel on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 am. Interment in St. Thomas Cemetery.
