Obituary of Grietje Van Meppelen Scheppink

VAN MEPPELEN SCHEPPINK, Grietje “Greta” (nee Menkveld) of St. Thomas passed away peacefully, on Saturday August 24th in her 84th year. Born January 7, 1930 in Holland the daughter of the late Willem and Toos Menkveld. Psalm 139:10b "Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." Beloved wife of Jacob Van Meppelen Scheppink (June 13th 1983) and loving mother of Jacqueline Van Pelt and her husband Floyd, Bill and his wife Leslie, Jake and his wife Jacqui, Thelma and her husband Jim Allen (2007), Lydia and her husband Rick Earhart, and Paul and his wife Bonnie. Loving Grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dear Sister of Wilma Noordam and her husband Harry of St. Thomas, and Gerrit (1987) and his wife Rita Menkveld of Mitchell ON and sister in law to Jerry and Truus Van Meppelen Scheppink and to John Bol (Tina 2008). Greta also had a brother and many relatives that remained in Holland. Greta was a member of Free Reformed Church. Visitation will be at the Shawn Jackson Funeral home, 31Elgin St. St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. The interment service will be at Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday at 11:30am, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm at Free Reformed Church 145 St. George St., St. Thomas. If desired, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Voice of the Martyrs in memory of Greta. Visitation Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
