Obituary of Forbes Smith

Obituary SMITH- Robert Forbes of St. Thomas passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 76. Forbes is survived by his loving wife Margaret Smith (nee Whelan); by his children Catherine Smith, Andrea (Dave) Burton, Liz Smith (Joe Freeman), Mike Smith, Sheila Smith, Adrian Smith, and Heather Smith; by his grandchildren Liam, Ryan, Ali, Jesse, Monica, Mike, Kenny, and Finnegan; his great grandson Joey; by his siblings-in-law Janet Smith, Pat Whelan, Monica Whelan, and Dave (Sue) Whelan; and by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents George and Beulah Smith; his sister Eleanore (Hank) Langeland; and his brother Keith Smith. Forbes retired as a Tool and Die Maker from Eaton Yale. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and actively involved with Scouts Canada for many years. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Parish Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Parish 20 Morrison Dr., St. Thomas on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10:00 am, with visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment in Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to a charity that supports children and adults with a disability.
