Obituary of Webster Scott "Scotty" D'Arcy

D’ARCY - Webster D’Arcy, called “Scotty” by family and friends, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on July 11, 2012 in his 90th year. Survived by his daughter Isabel D’Arcy of Nova Scotia, his son Patrick D’Arcy (wife Debra) of Whitby; his grandchildren Paul (Jane) Sibley of St. Thomas, Kathie-Lee (Morton) Cromwell of Nova Scotia, Kim Sibley (Pat Cromwell) of Nova Scotia, Darrell D’Arcy and Samantha D’Arcy both of Whitby, Carrie D’Arcy of Nova Scotia, Christopher (Melanie) D’Arcy of St. Thomas; great-grandchildren Mitchell Sibley, Scott Sibley, Jamie (Joanne) Jeffery, Angela (Sean) Stroyberg, Devin and Nicholaus Cromwell, Alex and Roslyn Goldman, Cameron D’Arcy, and Lillyana D’Arcy; great-great-grandchildren Ryan Jeffery and Brandon Jeffery, Bailey Stroyberg and Liam Stroyberg; his daughter-in-law Gail D’Arcy; and by his many nieces and nephews. Scotty was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his wife Emily D’Arcy (nee Fowler) (2002) and his son Darrell D’Arcy (2008), and his loving companion Mary-Ellen Clunas (2005). Scotty joined the army in Halifax on September 1, 1939. He was a member of the Halifax Rifles - West Novies and fought overseas where he was wounded. Upon his honourable discharge in November 1945, he returned to Halifax. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Lord Elgin Br. 41 and also spent his time at the Armories in St. Thomas. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00pm, with a Legion Service at 6:30pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 11:00am. Interment in South Park Cemetery. If desired, donations to Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
