Obituary of Douglas Jewell

JEWELL- Douglas Harold, at Extendicare, Port Stanley on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 Douglas Harold Jewell, in his 95th year, has gone to be with his loving wife and friend of 65 years, Marguerite Louise (Grice) Jewell (2005). Loving father to Edward and his wife Leona of Windsor, Kevin and his wife Wendy of Windsor, Debra Farrer and her husband Alan of Kenora, and Sue St. Pierre and her husband Marc of Windsor. Dear brother of the late Jean Moore (2004). Dear son of the late Harry (1982) Jewell, and Edna May (1968). Adored grandfather of Marie Sove and husband David, Rachel Fraser and husband Paul, Sarah Dupuis and husband Russell, Stephen, David, and Kathy Jewell, Derek Farrer and his wife Heather, Lyndsay Dewitt and husband T.J., Amanda and Megan Girard, Jacqueline Lewis, Collette St. Pierre and her partner Steve, and Marc St. Pierre and his partner Pietro . Great Grandfather of Conner, Adia, Sadie, Abbey, Julia, and Madison. Born in St. Thomas, July 11, 1917, Harold worked for the New York Central Railway. He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII. After the war, he went back to the railroad and retired as a machinist from Ontario Hydro. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, Union United Church or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The family will receive their friends at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St Thomas, (519-631-0570) on Friday June 1, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Union United Church on Saturday June 2, 2012 at 12:00 pm. A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be conducted at the funeral home by Port Stanley Branch #410 - The Last Post on Friday at 6:30 pm. Interment will be made in the Union Cemetery. Visitation with a Service Friday, June 1, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A Legion Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 6:30 pm.
