Obituary
DeJONG - Wilhelmina Christina (nee Pennings) of St. Thomas passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the age of 88. Wilhelmina is predeceased by her husband Jitse “Jack” Dejong (2016). She is survived by children Ed (Connie) DeJong of Clinton and Jessica (Herman) Thalen of Belgrave; her grandchildren Ian and Sandra DeJong, Candice (Adam) Bauer, Erica, Josh, Denise and Kayla Thalen and great grandchildren Landon and Abigail; by her siblings Henk (Gerda) Pennings, Christina “Christine” (late Bill) VanOene, Bertha (late Art Pol) (late Fred) DeJong, Johan “John” (Mary) Pennings, William “Will” (Sara) Pennings, Gerrit “Gary” (Ineke) Pennings, Albert (Annette) Pennings, by his siblings-in-law Siebren (Jane) DeJong of the Netherlands, Bill (Gerda) DeJong of Winchester Springs, Trien (Lammert) Slofstra of the Netherlands, Hinke (John) Postuma of Kingston, and Fedde (Trienke) DeJong of the Netherlands; and by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son John and daughter Nancy DeJong, brothers Bernard “Ben” Pennings, Christiaan “Jan” (late Hennie) Pennings, ; siblings-in-law Andy DeJong, Ans Bosma, Piebe and Floyd DeJong, and by her parents Jan and Johanna Pennings. Wilhelmina was a member of the Free Reformed Church of St. Thomas. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Free Reformed Church, 145 St. George Street, St. Thomas on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
