Obituary DOWNER - Harold George of Aylmer passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved father of Vickie McBay (late William) of Weston and Wayne Downer (Debora) of Utterson. Cherished grandfather of Terri McBay Gibbons (Dan), Kimberly Downer, Jaclyn Livingstone (Andrew), Abigail Downer and cherished by his 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Harold worked for the town of New Toronto then Etobicoke when the amalgamation occurred in the City of Toronto. He played hockey, lacrosse and baseball. He was awarded the Dr. Serson Memorial Trophy in 1950 for the best all round athlete in the Lakeshore District. He was still playing hockey with the Etobicoke Oldtimers into his 70’s. Cremation has already taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 1 - 4 PM at Terri's home, 25 Thames Ave. Etobicoke, ON. If desired, donations to Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.
