Obituary of Leo VanDyk

Obituary VANDYK - Leo John of St. Thomas passed away with his family by his side at the London Health Sciences Centre -University Campus on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of the late Diane VanDyk (nee Visscher)(2017). Leo is survived by his children Lori Ruessink (Brian) of St. Thomas, Steve VanDyk (Colleen) of Nairn, Kevin VanDyk (Carole) of Brampton, and Nicole Fitzgerald (Wade) of St. Thomas. Loving grandfather of Kelsey, Connor, Trent and Maggie Ruessink, Jordan, Kenzie, Keegan, and Avary VanDyk, Ashleigh, Jaden, Josh, Zachary, Zara, and Emma VanDyk, and Nathan and Lyla Fitzgerald. Missed by siblings Bert VanDyk (late Nellie), Helen VanderHeyden (Pete), Tina VanderWetering (late Harry), and Henry VanDyk (Anna Marie); his siblings-in-law Kathy VanDyk (late Frank), Val VanDyk (late Joe), Abel Huisman (late Henrietta), Arend Visscher (Joanne), Henry Visscher (Nancy), Mary Anne Cross (Doug), and Nick Visscher (Julie). Leo will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Johanna VanDyk; and by his siblings John, Jim, Betty Donkers, Mary Lester, Pete and Tony. Leo retired from the Ford Motor Company-Talbotville and was an active member at The Junction Church (formerly First Christian Reformed Church). He enjoyed playing golf at Belmont with the Old Dimers, his bowling league at Park ‘N Bowl and gardening. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A private funeral will be held on Wednesday with interment in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to London Health Sciences Centre-CCU would be appreciated.
