Obituary of Charles Henry Rodaway

RODAWAY - Charles Henry of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the age of 101. Beloved husband of Sheila Rodaway (nee Tearle) of 50+ years. Predeceased by his first wife Winnifred Rodaway (nee Sutton). Charles is survived by children Ken Rodaway (Kris) of Whitby, Sharon Mallette (Donald) of Hamilton and Dianne Hill of St. Thomas. Grandfather of Michael Rodaway (Jacqueline), Erin Tyndall (Paul), Jeffrey Garriock, Heather Loduca (Franco), Rebecca Mallette, Michael Mallette, Mandy Mallette, Lina Mallette, David Mallette, Tim Mallette, Thomas Mallette and Sheila Robinson. Great grandfather of Mason Tyndall and Chelsea Tyndall. Charles is predeceased by his daughter Lynda Garriock and sisters Doreen Atkinson, Doris Holmes, and Gerty Bowe. In Charles’ life he was in WWII and he was a Japanese prisoner of war (FEPOW). He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 414 for 69+ years, a member of the Masonic Lodge 171 Iona, Palestine Chapter 54, past commander Mocha Temple Legion of Honour, past president of Hi Ro Shrine Club and past president of Elgin Labour Centre. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 11:00 a.m. at Destination Church 668 Talbot St, St. Thomas, ON. Interment will be held at a later date.
