Obituary of Gwendolyn Rosabel Shepherd

SHEPHERD - Gwendolyn Rosabel (nee Goldsmith) It is with profound sadness that we grieve the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Gwen passed away peacefully on July 29, 2017 at the age of 87. She was born in Clarksburg on October 9, 1929 and she was the eldest daughter of the late William (Hec) and Margaret (Peg) Goldsmith. Gwen is survived by her husband Lew Shepherd and married for 65 years. Beloved mother of Lisa Shepherd (David Dougherty) of London; proud grandmother of Sean, Brendan, Ryan and Conner Dougherty of London. Missed by siblings Larry (Lynn) Goldsmith of Sarnia, and the late Leone Leroy (Bob). Gwen’s expertise with numbers as a book keeper led her to many executive positions with banking, head cashier, and many doctor’s offices that were entertained as the family was transferred to locations as her husband’s employment was located in several cities in the vicinity. In the “harvest“ of Gwen’s life she enjoyed a game of bridge with her friends, enjoyed many bus trips and the activity from the Seniors Centre. Her little car was her joy as she chauffeured the “girls” out for lunch and any other activity that was of most interest with her friends. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the SHAWN JACKSON FUNERAL HOME 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570). Cremation has already taken place. Interment of ashes to take place at Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. A special thanks to Dr. Jeff Balsdon and the staff at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home for executing the family’s demands and requests. Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.sjfh.ca THE CHAPTER HAS BEEN WRITTEN, THE PAGE HAS BEEN TURNED. A LIFE WELL LIVED. A REST WELL EARNED. MIZPAH Service Information
