Obituary of Roger Pettit

PETTIT- Dr. Roger Pettit of St. Thomas passed away peacefully, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, on Friday, July 24, 2020 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Susan Pettit; survived by his loving daughter Paula Pettit and her children Alex and Aidan, and son David (Andrea) Pettit all of St. Thomas; by his brother James (Marlene) Pettit of Montreal; and by many other family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Nora Pettit and daughter Katie (1981). Roger worked at his dental practice in St. Thomas for 45 years. He was very active in the community as past president of the Elgin Dental Association, past president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Thomas-Elgin, a member of the St. Thomas Curling Club, the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club, and the St. Anne’s Festival Board. Roger was great companion to many good friends and in his spare time he enjoyed carpentry work, coaching minor baseball and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes - St. Anne’s 20 Morrison Drive, St. Thomas on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am. COVID-19 protocols will be implemented. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes in Holy Angels Cemetery on a later date. If desired, donations to STEGH Foundation, Elgin Residential Hospice, or Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Thomas-Elgin would be appreciated.
