Obituary of Owen Freeman Rowsell
ROWSELL – Owen Freeman of St. Thomas, was Promoted to Glory on April 27, 2022, at Dearness Home in London after a battle with Dementia at the age of 67. Owen is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Rowsell (nee Janes); by his loving daughter Stephanie (Phil) Prendergast and their daughters Ella and Sophia of London; by his daughter-in-law Jillian Rowsell (late Sheldon, December 2021) and their children Madison and Nolan of Halifax; by his siblings Vera (Everett) Rideout, Beatrice (late Bob) Cole, Wavey (late Art) Noseworthy, Henry (Elva) Rowsell, Wayne (Vernita) Rowsell, Bonzie (Carl) Saunders, Doreen (Allister) White, Ivan (Audrey) Rowsell, Lorne (Valerie) Rowsell, Jim (Triffie) Rowsell, Lorna (John) Perry, Calvin (Betty) Clarke, Dean (Heather) Clarke, Rhonda Clarke, Rodney (Connie) Rowsell, Vernita (Brian) Collier, and Cora (Rodney) Sheppard; by his siblings-in-law Jean (late Don) Rowsell, Nina Church (late Glen Rowsell), Lynn (Harvey) Tulk, Leslie (Jean) Janes, David (Lucy) Janes, Juanita Collier (late Paul Smith), and Christopher (Kimberly) Janes; and by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his step mother Mavis Rowsell, brothers Boyd Rowsell and Ken (Shirley) Rowsell; his sister Louise (Kirby) Sceviour, parents-in-law Harold & Ruth Janes and brother-in-law Angus Collier. Owen was born in Botwood, Newfoundland to the late Eli and Nellie Rowsell. He grew up in Point Leamington, and moved to Labrador City following his graduation, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. He was a Salvation Army Officer serving for 39 years, and retired in 2017 with 44 years of Active service. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel 380 Elm Street, St. Thomas on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Salvation Army–Partners in Mission (St. Thomas) or the Alzheimer Society-Southwest Partners.
